中国国家主席习近平周四宣布，中国将裁减30万军队。在纪念二次大战胜利70周年的阅兵式上，他表示中国人民解放军是一股维护和平和地区稳定的力量。
 

　　 中国军队目前员额200多万，习近平已经开始加快军队现代化建设的步伐，这将使军队支出从传统的地面部队向更为先进的海军及空军转移，后者需要数量更少但受过更好训练的军事人员。
